About Brian Minnick

Tenor Brian Minnick has recently relocated to Kaneohe, Hawai’i and has been a part of the thriving opera and choral scene throughout the island of O’ahu. Recently, Brian has been a soloist and choral member with amazing organizations such as Hawai’i Opera Theater, Hawai’i Vocal Arts Ensemble, Early Music Hawai’i, Windward Choral Society among others.

Brian has performed opera, operetta, musical theatre, and oratorio throughout the country. His performances have also included a great deal of early music as well as of 20/21st century works. He has a special love and devotion to new music and has worked with companies throughout the country to bring brand new music to the communities where he has lived.

 Some favorite roles include Frederic and Major-General (Pirates of Penzance), Gingerbread Witch (Hänsel und Gretel), Parpingol (La Bohème), Dr. Bryan Cooper (Maelstrom: A Zombie Opera), Percy (Anna Bolena), Michele (Saint of Bleecker Street), Sancho Panza (Don Quijote, His Death & Meta Re-birth), Brack Weaver (Down in the Valley), Torquemada (L’heure espagnole), Tinca (Il Tabarro), and Malcom (Macbeth), as well as the United States premiere of Dvorak’s Šelma Sedlák singing the role of Jean.

Favorite oratorio includes the Tenor Soloist in Bruckner and Kodály’s Te Deum, Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Descanter and Street Chorus in the Bernstein Mass, as well as chorus in the World Premiere of Georgi Andreev’s Songs of Life – A Melancholy Beauty.

Brian holds a Masters in Opera from The Longy School of Music of Bard College under the study of Donna Roll as well an Bachelors of Music from George Mason University under Patricia Miller and Lisa Berger.
